It’s springtime again, and we’re ready to shed last year’s looks and embrace this year’s spring into summer fashions. While the previous few years saw a lot of dark colors in men’s wardrobes, this year is brightening things up. Bold, colorful, and memorable are the words for this year’s spring fashions. Here’s what’s trending.
Cropping and Going Short
Things are getting shorter around here. Men’s crop tops and short shorts are heading to the streets. Not feeling short shorts? Look for Bermuda shorts in bold colors. Pair looser fits with oversized tailored blazers and a t-shirt, and you’ve nailed this year’s spring suit.
Athleisure
Want to ditch the blazer for something more comfortable? There’s a trend for that. Comfortable but classy athleisure is where it’s at. The twist? Velour sweatsuits, bold colors, jogging coordinates, and more are going out of the gym and onto the street.
Vibrant Colors and Prints
Bold, vibrant, and colorful are the keywords for 2024. Look for brightly colored coordinates. There’s no sitting in the shadows this year. If you really want to make a splash, brightly colored hibiscus prints are showing up everywhere—on short-sleeve button-downs, t-shirts, etc.
Bomber Jackets
While motorcycle jackets have long been classics, we’re seeing a return to the classic bomber jacket for this year’s transitional layering. Be sure that the fit through the shoulders is a little loose, and you’ll nail this spring 2024 men’s fashion trend.
Oversize Tailoring
As mentioned above, the oversized look is in right now. Instead of making sure that your blazers fit through your shoulders exactly, look for a looser fit. Large and long trench coats—in bold colors—are also making their way down the streets on cooler and wetter days.
Simple Oxford Shirts
There’s nothing wrong with a classic; the Oxford shirt is exactly the classic you need in your closet. Look for these in chambray or other classic colors and pair them with Bermuda shorts and oversized blazers—or with the next trend.
Cardigan Sweaters
This year’s sweater trend veers away from crew and v-neck sweaters and into territory often associated in the past with your grandpa—but there’s nothing elderly about it. Cardigan sweaters are here to stay, and they’re the perfect layering tool for those days when it’s too warm outside for a jacket but too cool inside for a shirt without another layer.
Gorpcore
Good ol’ raisins and peanuts—GORP—are making a new statement. Instead of being a trail mix, it’s being used to name the newest fashion-core trend. Gorpcore, or clothing inspired by those who love fishing, hiking, and camping, is making a new statement as everyday wear. Look for fishing jackets with pockets, cargo pants, and solid shoes; you’ll be at the top of the pack.
Ties that Splash
While you can wear a tie with your oxford shirt, don’t overlook a statement tie with your favorite t-shirt under an oversized blazer. If you’re feeling more conservative with your everyday wear, this accessory is one way you can rock a trend without committing to a colorful wardrobe. Look for bold patterns and colors and master tying the tie knot; you’ll have it made.
If the spring 2024 men’s fashion trends seem familiar, you’d be right. Many of these trends were popular in the 90s – Kurt Cobain rocked a mean cardigan sweater, Will Smith was all about bold colors and Bermuda shorts, and Angus Young was all about the shorts suit. Whatever you decide to wear, wear it with confidence!
